A Snapshot Hash Is a Contract, Not a Device Test

There is a wonderfully dangerous moment in cross-platform work. One test produces the same hash you expected. The hexadecimal string sits there looking official. It is fixed-width. It has numbers and letters. It practically arrives wearing a tiny lab coat. Then the sentence grows. “The snapshot hash matched” becomes…

Don't Animate a Guess. Let the Rules Engine Return the Replay.

My game engine knew that one piece had moved, another had been pushed, a tile had cracked, and perhaps somebody had left the board at speed. The Flutter UI knew that the board looked different now. That left a tempting little gap. The UI could compare the old board with the new one, infer what probably happened, and…

Balancing a Game Nobody Has Played Yet: Deterministic Autoplay, and the One Metric I Got Wrong

Balancing a game usually works like this: you ship it, you wait, you watch a dashboard fill up with player deaths, and then you nudge a number and do it all again. That loop needs players. I did not have players. I had a tower-defense game I built in Flutter, an unreleased one, and a very specific question: is wave 20…

The Checker That Lies: Why a Backgrounded Browser Can't Judge Your Game

I was building a real-time Flutter game — a tower-defense thing with a deterministic simulation core and a CustomPaint renderer on top. The kind of project where "does it feel right?" is a real engineering question, not a vibe. Enemies walk a path, towers fire on a clock, and if the clock drifts by a few frames the…
